Augusta, Georgia George M. Copeland 1936 — 2022 Mr. George Marvin Copeland, age 86, of Augusta, died Monday, December 26, 2022, at his home after an extended illness. He was a native of Emanuel County, attended Oak Park School, lived in Richmond County most of his life, and worked with R.D. Brown Contractors for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, and was a member of Horizon Church of God in Augusta. Preceding him death were his parents, Marcus Lee Copeland and Ruby Lee Kight Copeland. He was born in Macon, and lived there until 1952 when his family moved to Reidsville. He graduated from Reidsville High School in 1955. After high school, he returned to Macon and worked twenty-seven years for Specialty Distributing Company, an electronics wholesale store, and then to Robins Air Force Base retiring after twenty-three years as a program manager. He retired to Toombs County in 2011, and was an avid deer hunter until his vision loss three years ago. He enjoyed the Atlanta Braves and college football.
