Upon arrival to UIUC, I immediately felt the sense that I was welcomed and appreciated for being there. The professors are spectacular! My organic chemistry professor contributed to the COVID test, which I thought was remarkable that he contributed to such a significant thing, yet, he was teaching ME! This, nonetheless, is not a unique experience as most of the professors at UIUC have done something remarkable, too. The student life at UIUC is unlike one I have ever imagined. The connections between people of various backgrounds, beliefs, etc are astounding. One thing I think I wish would change is the dorm housing. UIUC has one of the worst freshman dorm housing. For instance, I stayed in Snyder Hall in South Ikenberry Commons, and while it was nice, it was definitely not worth $13,000 (a year) for staying in a shoe box that would sometimes have co*ckroaches in the bathroom. Outside of that, I do not have many critiques of UIUC!

Overally, the University of Illinois is an exceptional school in regards to many aspects of the student experience. For students who are passionate about their studies, the school is top notch in a variety of fields and particularly STEM majors with excellent professors and student organizations for any topic that students may be interested in. The social life of the school is also something I have found to be quite impressive, despite the school being in a relatively small and isolated region, the student population is extremely large, and diverse while also being friendly and students can always find a specific group of people that they can connect with well. There are also many social based student organizations that can help people make friends and engage in hobbies that are not related to their school work. There are some drawbacks of the school, however I think that the high level of education and social atmosphere greatly contribute to a positive environment at the school.

I really do believe that UIUC gives a great balance of academic life and a social life. Coming here was one of the best decisions I made. There are many opportunities to get involved with campus life such as being a part of one of the 100+ RSOs on campus. I personally made many new friends, got involved in many different organizations, and learned so much from my professors' and peers' experiences. Research Park is a great place to work as an intern with multiple reputable companies, and I feel more prepared after doing an internship in Research Park. The campus scenery is beautiful as well. Taking a walk down the South Quad is peaceful and relaxing and if you go further down, Japan House awaits you with cherry blossom trees! I would recommend coming to UIUC because the experiences you will receive here will last with you for a lifetime.
